Meet the Family Behind
Spring Creek Preserve
Who We Are
We are a family of 7 – Alan and Megan, our adult children (Brooke, Grant, & Ryan) – and our two furry (dogs) family members; Cooper (Golden Retriever) and Cody (German Shorthaired Pointer). Brooke and Grant are currently attending Virginia Tech, and Ryan attends Florida State University.
Our Story
As John Muir stated a long time ago…. “The Mountains are calling and I must go”! Upon experiencing the Blue Ridge Mountains for the first time, many of us become instantly enchanted and have a story to share of why we are attracted to Western North Carolina. We are similar to many folks who have discovered this region and were determined to make a go at it!
Like many families, we began spending time in WNC many years ago as our children were attending summer camp in the mountains. They would affectionately consider the Blue Ridge Mountains as their “second home.” As summer approached, we would spend time planning their respective camp weeks while at the same time researching a vacation rental that we could use as our home base to explore the region.
Our plan always involved scheduling the vacation rental property so that we could explore, and when the children finished camp, we would spend another week enjoying all the activities and experiences of the region.
From Dreaming to Doing
Each successive WNC summer was intermixed with typical family vacation activities and the inevitable hunt for that perfect property. We would pick up every property magazine available and eagerly scan through the pages searching for “the one” that called to us. When we arrived back home, we would find ourselves daydreaming and often poking around the internet for property in WNC. Does this sound just like you? If so, you have an itch, and it needs to be scratched!
After several summers, we finally had the courage to make a commitment and purchased our family home in South Asheville – a decision that would have a meaningful impact on our family. Several years later, that decision took us down the path of finding 80 acres of the most enchanting mountain property we had ever experienced – Spring Creek Preserve.
